After nearly three months of construction to raise the clearance by more than a meter, since November 23, Binh Trieu 1 bridge at the Northeast gateway of Ho Chi Minh City has allowed cars to circulate again.
Recorded during the morning rush hour of November 24, the line of vehicles from National Highway 13, Pham Van Dong heading to the center through Binh Trieu 2 Bridge no longer has a long tail, having to move little by little as before.
Binh Trieu 2 Bridge is also more airy because there is no longer a lane for cars going out from the city center.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh (Tam Binh Ward) said that for nearly 3 months, traffic diversion to upgrade Binh Trieu 1 Bridge took him 20 - 30 minutes every morning to cross Binh Trieu 2 Bridge.
"This morning, the bus was running on the same route, not having to wait for decades like before. Traffic has become much easier. I hope the city will have more solutions to completely handle the congestion in this area" - Mr. Thanh shared.

However, the rapid flow of vehicles from Binh Trieu 2 Bridge has concentrated on Dinh Bo Linh Street, causing this route to be more seriously congested.
The section from Nguyen Xi Street to Bach Dang Street is often congested, thousands of people are stuck on the road to work and school. The distance is more than 1 km but it takes people nearly 30 minutes to move, motorbikes and cars jostle at the intersection with Bach Dang Street.

Mr. Tran Quang Lam - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that to fundamentally solve the congestion at the Northeast gateway, the city plans to study the construction of Binh Trieu 3 bridge (located between two existing bridges), at the same time expand Xo Viet Nghe Tinh and Dinh Bo Linh streets and deploy an elevated route along these two routes.
At the same time, the project to expand National Highway 13 from Binh Trieu Bridge to Vinh Binh Bridge is also being implemented, with a 4-lane elevated road running along the middle.
When completed, the elevated road system connecting National Highway 13 to Dien Bien Phu Street will create a modern traffic axis, helping to effectively reduce the load on the Northeast gateway area.
Previously, at the Conference to study and disseminate the Resolution of the First Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term on November 17, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang said that he had driven himself during rush hour to check the reality and had to travel exactly 2 hours to travel 12 km to the Binh Trieu bridge area.
Mr. Tran Luu Quang further analyzed that if we multiply the waste of time and effort of how many people on the road, the waste figure is terrible.
