HCMC - The project to open a new Chu Van An street extending to Dai Liet Si intersection, 200m long and 25m wide, with a total investment of more than 560 billion VND, will help reduce traffic congestion in Binh Thanh district.

Chu Van An Street, currently about 2km long and 25m wide, is an important traffic route in Binh Thanh District, connecting with major roads such as Dinh Bo Linh, Phan Chu Trinh, No Trang Long and Phan Van Tri.

However, there is still a section of about 200m connecting to the Martyrs' Monument intersection that has not been invested in construction, causing this road to be dead-end and making it difficult for people to travel.

Currently, motorcyclists from Chu Van An Street who want to go to Dai Liet Si intersection to go to major roads such as Ung Van Khiem, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh and National Highway 13 have to weave through small alleys to get to Nguyen Xi Street, causing many inconveniences.

To resolve this situation, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has proposed that the City People's Committee include the project to open a new section of Chu Van An Street extending to Dai Liet Si intersection in the list of key traffic projects that need to be prioritized for implementation in the 2024-2030 period.

The new road is expected to be about 200m long and 25m wide, starting at the existing Chu Van An Street and ending at the Martyrs’ Monument intersection. The total investment for this project is estimated at more than 560 billion VND, from the city budget.

According to the Department of Transport, the opening of this new road section will complete the traffic system around the Dai Liet Si intersection, based on the detailed construction planning project at a scale of 1/2000 for the residential area of Ward 26, Binh Thanh District, approved in 2010.

When the project is completed, vehicles from Ung Van Khiem and Xo Viet Nghe Tinh streets will be able to easily travel through Chu Van An street to Dinh Bo Linh street without having to take a long detour through National Highway 13 or find a way to cross small alleys. This will help reduce congestion at the Martyrs' Monument intersection.

At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport plans to build the Martyrs' Monument intersection with a roundabout combined with an underpass, helping to improve traffic in this area.

In addition to the above projects, Ho Chi Minh City has also approved a project to widen 600m of Chu Van An Street, from Binh Hoa intersection to Phan Chu Trinh Street, with a total cost of VND1,067 billion. This project will widen the road surface from the current 5-6m to 23m.

The project is expected to start construction at the end of this year and be completed in 2026. When completed, the project will help solve the "bottleneck" situation that has caused traffic congestion for many years in this area, while creating favorable conditions for people to do business and trade.
