Ho Chi Minh City will reduce from 21 departments to 15 departments, the number of other administrative agencies will decrease from 8 to 4 and public service units will decrease from 35 to 32.

This information was announced by Mr. Vo Ngoc Quoc Thuan - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs at the conference to review socio-economic development tasks in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025, held on the morning of December 26.

According to Mr. Thuan, the conclusion and direction of the administrative apparatus arrangement were approved by the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee on December 21.

The number of specialized agencies under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will be reduced from 21 to 15 departments; the number of other administrative agencies will be reduced from 8 to 4. For public service units, it will be reduced from 35 to 32.

Thu Duc City People's Committee will also be streamlined from 16 departments to 14 departments, while districts will be reduced from 12 departments to 10 departments.

The Department of Home Affairs has submitted documents to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for approval, and assigned vice chairmen in charge of the field to preside over working with relevant units to develop the project.

The implementation roadmap is as follows:

From December 28 to December 31: Units develop plans to reorganize their apparatus, including draft plans, decisions or resolutions to reorganize, merge, and consolidate agencies, and to define the functions and tasks of each unit.

From January 1, 2025 - January 7, 2025: The Department of Home Affairs completes and submits to the Party Committee of the City People's Committee to report to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee.

From January 8, 2025 to January 12, 2025: The Standing Committee of the City Party Committee approved the project to reorganize the apparatus.

From January 13, 2025 to January 15, 2025: The City People's Committee will submit relevant decisions and resolutions to the City People's Council or competent authorities for approval. Similarly, the Thu Duc City People's Committee, districts and towns will also carry out these steps.

From January 16, 2025 to January 24, 2025: The People's Council of the City, Thu Duc City, and districts approved decisions to reorganize and merge agencies and units.

From January 25, 2025 to February 12, 2025: Agencies and units complete regulations on functions, tasks and organization of activities, submit to competent authorities for approval according to simplified procedures. At the same time, arrange, hand over documents, and change seals according to regulations.

From February 13, 2025 - February 16, 2025: Complete the arrangement process and report the results to the City People's Committee through the Department of Home Affairs.

From February 17, 2025 - February 20, 2025: Department of Home Affairs synthesizes and reports to the City People's Committee.

From February 21, 2025 to February 28, 2025: The City People's Committee reports the implementation results to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
