The above information was shared by Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Van Thi Bach Tuyet at the Conference summarizing the work of Propaganda and Mass Mobilization in 2025, deploying tasks in 2026 and awarding State-level awards, held on December 26.
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Van Thi Bach Tuyet assigned the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to carry out the work of arranging press agencies in accordance with the orientation and direction of the Central Committee and submit to the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee before December 31, 2025.
According to the Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee pays special attention to the work of arranging the city's press agencies. Along with streamlining the organization, the city's leaders also directed the implementation of appropriate solutions to best promote the role and position of press agencies in the new period.
Ho Chi Minh City determines that the arrangement of the press agency system must comply with the orientation and direction of the Central Government, in accordance with current legal regulations.
After the arrangement, the city's press agencies must not only maintain stable operations but also operate more effectively, improve information quality, better meet the requirements of political tasks and the needs of readers and audiences.
"This is a difficult task but must be implemented so that when implementing the project to reorganize press agencies in Ho Chi Minh City, there will be high consensus. After the arrangement, the Ho Chi Minh City Newspaper, Radio and Television agencies must operate better and ensure the full implementation of assigned political tasks" - Ms. Van Thi Bach Tuyet emphasized.
Previously, implementing Decision 362/QD-TTg dated April 3, 2019 of the Prime Minister on the National Press Development and Management Planning until 2025, in phase 1, Ho Chi Minh City (before the merger) has rearranged the press system in the direction of streamlining, through the conversion of governing agencies and operating models.
From the initial 27 agencies, the city still has 19 press agencies, including 7 press agencies (3 newspapers under the City Party Committee, 1 newspaper under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, 1 newspaper under the City Youth Union and 2 religious newspapers), 1 radio station, 1 television station (under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee), 7 magazines and 3 scientific magazines.
From July 1, 2025, 4 more press agencies of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces will be transferred under Ho Chi Minh City, bringing the total number of press agencies of the city to 23, with more than 3,000 employees.
Currently, Binh Duong Newspaper and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Newspaper have merged into Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper.
Ho Chi Minh City also established Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Television Station after the arrangement of Ho Chi Minh City Television Station, Ho Chi Minh City People's Voice Station, Binh Duong Provincial Radio and Television Station, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Radio and Television Station.
