The pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River will start from Ben Bach Dang Park (District 1) and end at the riverside park area, adjacent to Nguyen Thien Thanh Street in the new urban area of Thu Thiem (Thu Duc City).
With a total length of about 261m, the bridge has a main span of a cable-stayed arch 187m long, steel girders, and a cross-section varying from 7 to 11m.
The bridge is designed with a clearance of 80m x 10m, ensuring clear space for waterway traffic.
On District 1 side, the approach bridge and ramp are about 285m long, 6m wide, using reinforced concrete beams.
On the Thu Duc City side, the approach bridge and ramp have two branches: branch 1 is 290m long and 6m wide, branch 2 is 165m long, both using a combination of steel beams and reinforced concrete.
The bridge will be equipped with technical infrastructure including lighting, drainage systems and other utility structures such as elevators.
In particular, the ETFE roof (film made from polymer plastic) and the artistic lighting system will be considered for implementation in the next phase, when the project is established as public ownership.
The project has a total investment of nearly 997 billion VND and is expected to be implemented in the period of 2024 - 2027. Nutifood Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company will sponsor all related costs during the project implementation process.
The project will start in 2025 and be completed and accepted in 2026 - 2027. After completion, Nutifood Company will hand over the project to Ho Chi Minh City in accordance with regulations.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned relevant departments to coordinate, supervise and ensure the project implementation complies with the approved schedule and criteria, and Nutifood will be responsible for the entire project implementation process.
The pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River is not only a traffic project, but also a new architectural symbol of the city, creating a connection between two historical and cultural spaces: District 1 and Thu Duc City.
With a friendly and modern design, the bridge will create a safe and convenient public space, attracting residents and tourists to visit. This is also an important step in completing the planned traffic network, contributing to the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.
