On February 24, Mr. Nguyen Van Trang - Chairman of Tra On District People's Committee, Deputy Head of the District's Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses - said that, implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Prime Minister, the whole Tra On District has deployed the construction and repair of a total of 239 houses for poor households, near-poor households, meritorious people, relatives of martyrs and ethnic minorities.
Of which, 115 new houses were built and 124 houses were repaired, with a total cost of over 13.7 billion VND from the central budget; funding from the regular expenditure savings of 5% of provinces, districts, and communes; funding from the national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas, ... and socialized sources.
According to Mr. Trang, in order to ensure the houses are built and repaired on schedule and are more spacious, the district has also mobilized other resources to join hands to support the families.
Of which, the provincial police force and the military, union members, district youth, families, and relatives supported more than 1,100 working days to dismantle and move belongings.
The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the Provincial Red Cross Society mobilized support to give gifts on the occasion of handing over houses to ethnic minority households in the district, each gift worth 300,000 VND.
"Up to now, Tra On district has completed 100% of the plan assigned by the province on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area; organized acceptance, handed over for use, helping households have new houses to settle down and make a living," Mr. Trang added.
