In early July 2025, prolonged storms caused serious landslides in the area of the Lao Cai - Sa Pa BOT toll station. A large amount of soil and rock from the positive taluy spilled down, burying a section of road through the station, causing traffic on Provincial Road 155 to be disrupted, and vehicles forced to change direction.
According to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper on January 21, after about half a year of implementing remediation, the toll station area has basically been resolved.
At the scene, the volume of soil and rocks that buried the road surface has been completely cleared, the road surface is clear, ensuring conditions for safe traffic for vehicles.

Currently, vehicles can move back on Provincial Road 155, through Mong Sen bridge as before. This road runs parallel to National Highway 4D below, contributing to reducing traffic pressure, shortening the distance and travel time for vehicles from Lao Cai to Sa Pa and vice versa.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan, a tourist car driver on the Sa Pa - My Dinh route, said that recently, drivers have encountered many difficulties due to having to go around National Highway 4D.
Another route is further away, the travel time is longer, especially on busy days. Now the toll station area has cleaned up the landslide, and traffic is much more convenient," Mr. Hoan shared.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Quang Luu - Deputy General Director of Lao Cai - Sa Pa BOT Investment Joint Stock Company confirmed that vehicles can now circulate through the station normally.
According to Mr. Luu, all landslide soil and rocks have been cleared, and affected items are also being installed and equipment is being refined.
The resumption of toll collection is currently still awaiting a written approval from the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee. When there is an official opinion, businesses will implement it in accordance with regulations," Mr. Luu informed.

The completion of the landslide at the Lao Cai - Sa Pa BOT toll station not only helps restore traffic on the main road but also facilitates transportation and tourism activities in the context that the number of vehicles going to Sa Pa tends to increase again.
