On the afternoon of June 19, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province held a conference to announce and hand over decisions approving investors for projects serving the APEC 2027 conference.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan said that the conference is not only an event on investment procedures but also a milestone of action, demonstrating the proactive spirit, political determination and long-term vision of Kien Giang province in preparing conditions for international-class service infrastructure and urban space to host one of the largest foreign events in the Asia-Pacific region.
Phu Quoc is gradually shaping its position on the world tourism map with the appearance of many international brands, iconic works and proper investment from strategic corporations. Kien Giang province clearly recognizes that to successfully successfully implement APEC 2027, Phu Quoc must have a modern, synchronous, and international-class infrastructure platform. And to do that, we need to start today with specific, drastic and focused actions.
At the conference, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province awarded approval decisions to 3 key projects to serve the APEC 2027 conference. Specifically, the mixed-use urban area project - Bai Dat Do is invested by Phu Quoc Sun Company Limited, with a total capital of VND 64,000 billion, implementation period 2025 - 2027. The project aims to form a modern urban space, combined with a conference center - a high-end hotel directly serving the APEC Conference.
The Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project is invested by Sun Airport Joint Stock Company, with a total investment of VND 22,000 billion, with a implementation period of 2025 - 2027. This is a key project, which needs to be completed before the first quarter of 2027 to ensure the capacity to welcome international delegates, increasing the exploitation capacity to 18 million passengers/year.
The Ong Quan Mountain Eco-tourism Complex Urban Area Project is invested by Phu Quoc Sun Company Limited, with a total investment of VND 5,550 billion, with implementation period 2025 - 2027. The project develops a high-class resort space in harmony with nature, aiming to serve diplomatic events, cultural experiences and high-class services.
Mr. Tran Minh Son - Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sun Group - said: these are not only projects serving the success of APEC 2027, but also strategic infrastructure projects, creating an important driving force for Phu Quoc to break through, reaching the level of becoming an international ecological, resort, financial and creative center. Therefore, Sun Group will mobilize the highest level of resources, focus highly to implement correctly, even exceed the schedule, ensuring the highest economic efficiency for today's 3 projects and the projects that will be trusted afterwards.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee, these are projects of fundamental and motivating nature, not only directly serving APEC 2027 but also playing a long-term role in shaping the development, connection and integration space of Phu Quoc and Kien Giang.
The Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee pledged to be ready, determined, and accompany investors to turn ideas into reality, turn designs into specific projects; create the most favorable conditions for administrative procedures, site clearance, provide information and support for implementation. At the same time, a specialized working group was established to monitor and promptly remove obstacles, ensuring progress and quality of each project; closely coordinating with investors in each implementation stage to ensure completion before the 2027 APEC Conference.
