According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the high tide in early October 2025 will peak on October 8 and 9 (ie August 17 - 18 of the lunar calendar). The peak tide is expected to appear between 5-7 am and 17-19 pm.
According to the reporter's records on the afternoon of October 7, although the water level has not yet reached its peak, many areas along rivers and canals have been partially flooded, especially on Tran Xuan Soan Street (Tan Thuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

The 1.5 km long Tran Xuan Soan Street was flooded 15-20cm deep. The prolonged floodwaters made it difficult for many vehicles to move, especially during rush hour. Traffic on the route was congested, many people had to go around small alleys to avoid flooded areas.

Ms. Diep Thi Minh (formerly living in District 8) said that this road is flooded almost every year during the high tide season. "There is no rain this afternoon but the water rose very quickly. Vehicles stalled continuously, people were used to it but it was still very difficult, especially when picking up their children from school, the children had to wade through the water, Ms. Minh shared.
Many households and businesses along the road also suffered damage due to water flooding into their houses. Ms. Hoang Cam Tho - owner of a grocery store on Tran Xuan Soan Street - shared: "Every time the water rises, customers don't dare to stop to buy goods, the goods in the store are also wet, and have to be raised. Every year it floods, I hope the government will have a definitive solution to help people suffer less".

The Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that the water level on the Saigon River is rising rapidly during the high tide. It is forecasted that at Phu An and Nha Be stations it will reach 1.60-1.65 m ( approximately or exceed alert level 3), while at Thu Dau Mot station it will reach 1.75-1.80 m (exceeding alert level 3 by about 0.15-0.20 m). The meteorological agency warns of the risk of flooding in low-lying areas and along rivers, especially when high tides coincide with heavy rain.

To proactively respond to high tides, the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DONRE) of Ho Chi Minh City recommends that People's Committees of wards and communes proactively respond to high tides in early October, especially in areas along rivers, canals and low-lying areas. Localities need to regularly notify people, inspect and reinforce dykes, embankments, and tidal sluices; prepare materials such as canopy, sandbags, and tarpaulins to promptly handle incidents.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment also requested the Department of Construction, the Urban Drainage Company, the Irrigation Exploitation Management Company and local authorities to coordinate in effectively operating the tidal control culvert system, floodgates and pumping stations, and at the same time arrange mobile pumps to quickly handle flooded areas.
For flooded roads, functional units need to install warning signs, barriers, traffic lights and lighting to ensure people's safety.
