On January 7, the People's Committee of Gio Linh commune (Quang Tri province) confirmed that the unit is announcing the search for relatives of an abandoned baby boy.
Previously, at 1 am on January 3, local authorities received a report from the family of Mr. Bui Ngoc Mieng (residing in Long Hai village, Gio Linh commune) about the discovery of a newborn baby abandoned in front of the house gate.
Initial verification showed that the baby boy was in normal health, weighing about 3 kg. At the time of discovery, the baby was wearing a small brown flower white shirt, a white hat, wrapped with two orange and blue towels, placed in a newborn plastic basket. Next to it was a milk bottle, a box of milk, two bags of wet towels, two milk towels, a bottle of melaleuca oil and 255,000 VND.
Gio Linh Commune People's Committee has temporarily handed over the baby to Mr. Bui Ngoc Mieng's family for care and nurturing.
Gio Linh Commune People's Committee announced that within 7 days, from January 7 to the end of January 13, 2026, if the child's biological father, mother or relative comes to Gio Linh Commune People's Committee to complete procedures to receive the child back, it will be resolved according to legal regulations. After the above deadline, if no one comes to receive the child, the local government will carry out birth registration procedures and related procedures for abandoned children.
