On the afternoon of December 5, Lien Huong Port Border Guard Station (Lam Dong Provincial Border Guard Command) said that after many hours of efforts, the unit, local military forces and fishermen have coordinated to salvage 12 fishing boats that sank due to floodwaters.

Previously, from the afternoon of December 3, the upstream of the Long Song River had heavy rain, causing the water flowing into the Long Song irrigation lake to increase. In the early morning of December 4, the Long Song irrigation reservoir overflowed with a flow of more than 1,200 m3/s, causing the strong flow of Phuoc The river.
Many fishing vessels anchored at the Lien Huong estuary broke their anchors, drifted and sank afterwards. In addition, it also flooded hundreds of houses and crops in the commune.
According to preliminary statistics, 32 fishing boats with broken anchors and drifting have been anchored and moved to safety, with 26 fishing boats alone submerged in water.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Sa - Chairman of Lien Huong Commune People's Committee - said that the water from upstream was pouring in too strongly, while the river section near the estuary was narrow, causing fishing boats to easily break their anchors and sink quickly. Many ships, although anchored with many ropes, were still swept out to the estuary.
The Border Guard Station of Lien Huong Port mobilized soldiers of the unit to coordinate with local forces to support towing fishing boats that drifted at Lien Huong port; mobilized 3 fishing boats to promptly pull the vehicles that drifted to Lien Huong port back to shore safely.
