On the morning of November 4, a representative of Lien Huong Border Guard Station, Lam Dong Provincial Border Guard Command, said that the unit is mobilizing many officers and soldiers to coordinate with fishermen to anchor and pull many sunken and drifted vehicles into safe locations.
Previously, due to the impact of upstream rain, the Long Song river reservoir overflowed from 5:00 p.m. on December 3 with a flow of 100m3/s, increasing to 350m3/s at 2:30 a.m. on December 4.
At 5:30 a.m. on November 4, water began to flow down the mouth of the Lien Huong River, causing some baskets and fishing boats to break and drift away. Preliminary statistics up to now, about 30 fishing vessels have sunk or drifted into the sea.
Lien Huong Border Guard Station deployed all forces and fishermen to pull and anchor vehicles to the embankment, and mobilized fishermen's vehicles to support the rescue.
Currently, the tidal water has receded, creating a strong flow at the river mouth, causing flooding in village 1 (Phuoc The commune) and village 2 (Lien Huong commune), affecting about 900 households. The unit is coordinating with the locality to mobilize forces to evacuate people.
