Within the framework of the Thailand Meeting Conference held in Da Nang city, on the afternoon of September 26, the Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Da Nang city jointly opened the space displaying typical products of Vietnam - Thailand.
The exhibition space for typical Vietnamese - Thai products was held at APEC Park, a favorite place for locals and tourists when coming to Da Nang. There were 32 booths of 24 units, localities, and enterprises of Vietnam and Thailand, introducing typical and unique products, OCOP products, and export products of the two countries. This event is an opportunity for the business communities of Vietnam and Thailand to display and introduce typical and strong products, thereby helping to connect, cooperate, and increase trade between the two sides.
Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Consul General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, affirmed that this event is an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations between Thailand and Vietnam, promote people-to-people exchanges through trade exchange activities, in line with the three-connectivity strategy that Thailand and Vietnam jointly adopted from November 2022.
Thailand is currently Vietnam’s largest trading partner in ASEAN with a two-way trade turnover of approximately 20 billion USD. Thailand is also the 9th largest foreign investor in Vietnam, and the 2nd largest in ASEAN, after Singapore with 14 billion USD. Thai enterprises in Vietnam are considered the main driving force of economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries and are also typical of quality investors.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee, said that Da Nang is honored to be chosen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City as the venue for the Meeting with Thailand. This is an important event, contributing to further promoting the increasingly deep and extensive strategic partnership between Thailand and Vietnam. Today's event is a good start for the two sides to continue organizing more networking events and larger-scale product exhibitions in the coming time.
Also on the afternoon of September 26, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, had a meeting with the Thai Delegation attending the Meeting with Thailand in Da Nang City, led by Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Consul General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the meeting, the leaders of Da Nang city and the Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City expressed their desire and commitment to continue promoting cooperation in various fields, promoting investment, trade and tourism between Da Nang city and localities of Thailand. In particular, both sides will take advantage of the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) from Thailand through Laos to Da Nang Port.
Da Nang City periodically organizes the EWEC Investment, Trade and Tourism Fair every August. This is an opportunity for businesses in localities on EWEC to introduce products and connect with each other. Thai visitors to Da Nang ranked 3rd in the top 10 market shares of international visitors to Da Nang. In the coming time, the two sides will continue to promote Thai and Vietnamese airlines to open more direct flights, creating conditions for the two sides to increase exchanges and effectively exploit investment, trade and tourism cooperation.
