Many irrigation lakes and hydropower plants have proactively regulated to welcome floods, ensuring safety before storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) makes landfall.
According to a quick report, by the morning of November 6, the total water volume of 64 reservoirs (including 53 irrigation lakes and 11 hydroelectric lakes) reached 585.79 million m3/752.7 million m3 of designed capacity, equivalent to 78%.
Some large lakes have been discharged with a flow rate of 20 to 400 m3/s to ensure flood capacity, reducing the risk of overload when storms occur.
The whole province currently has 3,451 rafts with 106,106 aquaculture cages, along with 8,331 workers.
The authorities requested all workers on the cages to move to shore before 12:00 on November 6.
In addition, Khanh Hoa has 6,953 boats with 36,498 workers; of which 323 boats with 2,734 workers are operating at sea. All vehicles are outside the danger zone.
Authorities and localities are urgently notifying and instructing fishermen, ship owners, aquaculture households, tourist boats and cargo ships to stop all activities at sea from 12:00 on November 6 until the storm subsides.
People are required to anchor their boats and cages firmly, and absolutely do not stay at sea during the storm.
For inland waterway wharves and Nha Trang Bay, the authorities have urgently notified more than 300 vehicles in operation.
At the same time, temporarily stop procedures to leave the wharf for passenger ships when there is a warning of high storms.
Weather warning information is continuously transmitted through loudspeakers and Zalo groups of ship owners to ensure quick reception and timely response.
Regarding the evacuation of people, localities have reviewed and identified that the whole province has 237 locations at risk of landslides, involving 6,162 households and 27,826 people.
Of which, Nam Nha Trang, Bac Nha Trang and Nha Trang wards alone have 130 vulnerable locations, with 4,029 households and 16,520 people needing to be ready to evacuate when ordered.
Forces were deployed to guard and blockads culverts, spillways, and areas with fast-flowing water to prevent people from traveling, ensuring safety of life.
Regarding agricultural production, the whole province is planting nearly 20,000 hectares of rice and 57,800 hectares of various crops.
Localities have advised people to harvest agricultural products early according to the motto "green at home, more green in the fields" to avoid damage caused by storms and floods.
