On the morning of October 22, Lai Chau Provincial Police held a ceremony to posthumously award the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Major Ha Van Minh, an officer of the Traffic Police Department, Provincial Police - who heroically sacrificed his life while performing his duties.
Authorized by the President, Major General Nguyen Viet Giang - Director of Lai Chau Provincial Police awarded the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to the representative of Major Ha Van Minh's family.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Viet Giang expressed his emotion, sent his condolences, encouragement and deep sympathy to comrade Minh's family.
The Director of the Provincial Police Department also requested units, especially the Traffic Police Department, to regularly care, share, encourage and support comrade Ha Van Minh's family.
Previously, with the consent of the Minister of Public Security, he signed a decision to promote comrade Ha Van Minh from Captain to Major before the term to show gratitude for his contributions, dedication and heroic sacrifice while on duty.
It is known that on the afternoon of June 28, 2025, while performing patrol and control tasks to ensure security and order in Muong So commune, the working group of the Traffic Police Department discovered 2 motorbikes violating traffic laws. Comrade Ha Van Minh signaled to stop the vehicle for inspection.
However, the subjects did not comply with the order but recklessly increased the speed, one subject stabbed comrade Ha Van Minh directly and then ran away.
Although he was wholeheartedly treated by his teammates and doctors, due to the seriousness of his injuries, he passed away at 8:03 (July 2).
