On the evening of February 28, the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province held a ceremony to announce the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the establishment of wards in Phu My town; establishment of Phu My city, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Mr. Pham Viet Thanh - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and many workers, civil servants, and people in Phu My town.
According to Resolution 1365/NQ-UBTVQH15, effective from March 1, 2025, Tan Hoa and Tan Hai wards will be established on the basis of communes of the same name; Phu My city will be established on the basis of the entire natural area of 333.02 km2 and the population of 287,055 people of Phu My town.
At the same time, the People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Phu My city, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province were established.
Phu My city will include 10 commune-level administrative units, including 7 wards: Hac Dich, My Xuan, Phu My, Phuoc Hoa, Tan Hai, Tan Hoa, Tan Phuoc; and 3 communes: Chau Pha, Song Xoai, Toc Tien.
With the advantage of owning a deep-water port cluster of Cai Mep - Thi Vai of regional and international scale, the establishment of Phu My city is a premise for developing Phu My urban area as a port - industrial city; closely connecting economic space with industrial, urban, service and logistics belts of the Southeast region; connecting with the East-West economic corridor of the country and with the Southeast Asian economic corridor.
