Recently, on the elevated Ring Road 3, a passenger car with license plate 36H-081. xx entering the emergency lane was stopped for inspection by the task force of Road Traffic Police Team No. 7.
The violating driver explained that he did not see the traffic police force on duty, so he was subjective. However, when the officer showed him a video recorded by the UAV with clear images of license plates and the entire process of the vehicle entering the emergency lane, this person admitted the violation and was "convinced".
Mr. Pham Quang Huy (resident of Khuong Dinh street, Hanoi) commented that the images from the UAV are very clear, undeniable.
Captain Trinh Quoc Tuan - officer of Road Traffic Police Team No. 7 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) on July 29 - said that during peak hours, UAVs are very effective in detecting and handling violations.
According to Captain Tuan, UAVs are also "magic eyes" to support traffic regulation. When congestion occurs on the Nguyen Trai or Ring Road 3 elevated route, the device helps functional forces quickly identify the location of the collision, vehicle problem or bottleneck to mobilize officers to handle, and at the same time organize remote traffic diversion.
According to the Hanoi City Police Department of Staff, as of the end of phase 1 of the testing (from June to July 2026), the police force has detected 510 cases of violations of traffic safety and urban order thanks to UAVs.
In the first test phase (from June 1 to June 20, 2026), UAVs deployed at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, Hoan Kiem Lake, Lac Long Quan flower garden and the West Lake area discovered 83 violations, of which 12 cases were directly handled, and 71 cases were transferred dossiers for verification and handling.
In the second test phase (from June 22 to July 17, 2026), UAVs were expanded on Ring Road 3. Functional forces directly handled 32 cases of cars stopping and parking illegally and transferred records of remote fines for 395 violations.
Notably, UAV images were transmitted live to the Hanoi City Police Command Center to serve operations. The system promptly detected a traffic accident on the elevated Ring Road 3, and at the same time supported the coordination of 18 traffic congestion clearance trips.
All UAVs used in the pilot phase are researched, developed and mastered by Vietnamese technology enterprises.

The UAV test is not only a technological step forward but also reflects the direction of building a modern urban management model of Hanoi City Police.
