Tuyen Quang is a mountainous province with more than 70% of its terrain being mountainous, divided by a system of streams, streams and steep terrain. For that reason, many residential areas, especially in remote communes, are often isolated during the flood season and have difficulty traveling.
This not only endangers people during the rainy season but also contributes to socio-economic development and poverty reduction in the locality. From that reality, over the years, Tuyen Quang province has increased investment in rural infrastructure.
Since mid-2024, people in Dong Da village, Thuong Nong commune have been able to travel conveniently on a solid concrete bridge over the stream. Dozens of households no longer worry about being cut off during the rainy season, and the agricultural products they make can be transported conveniently.
"People are very happy, since the new bridge was built, they are not worried about floods. Chickens and pigs raised by traders are also bought by farmers in the village at high prices, people are also escaping poverty, and their lives have improved day by day thanks to convenient travel and trade", Ms. Chau Thi Lien, Dong Da village shared.

In early 2024, Nam Lon bridge over the stream in Dong Da village was built, and the villagers were happy to come out. The reinforced concrete bridge, only 16m long and more than 2m wide, is the long-standing wish of the people.
In Hung Loi, there are many difficulties, the high poverty rate in Tuyen Quang province, thanks to bridges across streams, has helped people travel conveniently, rural infrastructure is constantly improving, and their lives are improved.
Bum Ken Bridge crosses Pho Day River of Hung Loi Commune, newly built with a length of 72m, a bridge surface of 6.5m wide, this project is not only a bridge, but a link connecting the lives of more than 800 people of the H'Mong, Dao, and Nung ethnic groups.
Mr. Then Van Phuc - Head of Bum Ken village shared: "There was no bridge during the day, it was impossible to travel when it rained. Now that motorbikes and cars can cross the bridge easily, people can rest assured to do business, many households have escaped poverty and become rich thanks to the development of the farm economy and convenient circulation of goods".
In the period of 2021 - 2024, the whole province of Tuyen Quang has built more than 900km of rural roads and 161 bridges for people, of which 116 bridges have been completed and put into use, and 45 bridges are under construction. In 2025, the province aims to build about 166km of more roads and build 39 bridges, contributing to the completion of the transport infrastructure system in rural and mountainous areas.
According to the Department of Construction of Tuyen Quang province, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the construction of about 200 bridges in the area will be completed. By the end of this year, this goal will be completed, helping to complete rural transport infrastructure, creating conditions for people to develop the economy and sustainably reduce poverty.
Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, Tuyen Quang province has increased investment to support the development of socio-economic infrastructure in poor communes and disadvantaged mountainous areas. In particular, focusing on completing traffic infrastructure, schools, cultural houses, canals, traditional houses, domestic water, and roads.
Thanks to that, it has increased regional connectivity to serve people's lives, produce, and circulate goods and services to meet people's needs, creating conditions for people to access basic social services, contributing to improving the quality of life in disadvantaged areas, reducing the poverty rate.
After 5 years of implementing 3 national target programs for the period 2021-2025, Tuyen Quang province has mobilized a total of more than 64,000 billion VND. The National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in Tuyen Quang province alone has mobilized more than VND1,100 billion to support livelihoods and social security. Thanks to that, tens of thousands of poor households have escaped poverty.
