Effective implementation of information poverty reduction in Tuyen Quang

From 5:30 a.m. every day, the loudspeaker system of Thai Binh commune, Tuyen Quang province has echoed throughout the villages and hamlets. Information about socio-cultural and economic development in and outside the province quickly reached the people.

Ms. Ly Thi Lan, Thai Binh commune, said that the loudspeaker system broadcasts regularly every day, providing many useful official information for people. Especially instructions on animal husbandry and farming.

"My family is a poor household, supported by the state for 2 breeding cows, and thanks to listening to the province's radio programs instructing on the livestock farming techniques that I know how to prevent diseases for cows, helping cows to reproduc healthily, giving economic value, my family has escaped poverty for more than a year now," Ms. Lan shared.

Phu Thinh Commune Radio Station broadcasts at fixed hours from 5:30 am to 7:30 am, in the afternoon from 5:00 pm to serve local people. Currently, most villages have a loudspeaker system to receive signals via the 4G network, the coverage rate to the village cluster is 100%.

Previously, like many other poor households, the family of Ms. Dang Thi Nga, Trung Son commune struggled to find a way to develop the economy. However, from useful information on agricultural promotion programs through television and radio systems, Ms. Nga has found a way to develop the family's economy.

Ms. Nga said: "I borrowed 50 million from the social policy bank to buy 2 breeding buffaloes, combined with planting forests for timber. The guidance information and training courses on animal husbandry have helped the family develop the economy more effectively. From selling forest timber and buffalo, my family earns more than 160 million VND per year".

Thanks to accessing policy information, learning knowledge and experience in production, many people, especially poor households in many localities of Tuyen Quang province, have gradually changed their thinking and working style, no longer have the mentality of waiting and relying on the State but proactively rising up.

To continue promoting the effectiveness of poverty reduction in information in the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, Tuyen Quang province has developed a plan to support poor households, poor households, newly escaped poverty households, people living in poor communes using telecommunications services, receiving information, and reducing poverty in information.

Accordingly, strive for 90% of poor households and poor households to have access to telecommunications and internet services. Improve the capacity and efficiency of the grassroots information system, ensuring that 100% of communes with special socio-economic conditions or difficulties have a viable broadcasting system.

In the 2021-2025 period, the total capital allocated to the Information Poverty Reduction Communication Project and the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in Tuyen Quang province is more than 15.3 billion VND. This work has contributed significantly to reducing the rate of poor households and re-poor households in the area.

With comprehensive efforts, information poverty reduction is contributing to narrowing the gap in access to knowledge between regions, improving the spiritual life of people, thereby creating momentum to promote socio-economic development, building Tuyen Quang for comprehensive development, leaving no one behind.

The poverty rate of the whole province of Tuyen Quang has decreased sharply in the recent period, the average decrease reached nearly 5%/year. In particular, the poverty rate in ethnic minority areas decreased from 37.31% to 16.04%.
