According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, as of the morning of September 6, the center of super typhoon No. 3 (typhoon Yagi ) is located in the northern sea area of the North East Sea, about 160km east-southeast of Hainan Island (China); about 600km east-southeast of Quang Ninh.
The strongest wind near the center of the super typhoon is level 16 (184-201km/h), gusting over level 17, moving west at a speed of 15-20km/h.
Previously, on September 5 , the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) issued a dispatch on focusing on urgent response to storm No. 3 (storm Yagi).
In particular, Military Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5; Hanoi Capital Command (B TL) directed the Military Commands (CHQS) of provinces and cities (districts, towns) to proactively advise local authorities to establish working groups to inspect key areas at risk of flash floods, landslides, riverbank and stream bank landslides, low-lying areas, support people in reinforcing their houses and evacuating from dangerous areas; direct subordinate units to coordinate with units stationed in the area to prepare forces and means to help local authorities and people respond to and overcome the consequences caused by storm No. 3.
The Border Guard Command (BĐBP) directed the Border Guard Commands of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Dinh to closely monitor the storm's developments; coordinate with the Military Commands of provinces and cities and relevant agencies to strictly manage means of transport going out to sea, organize counting, guide the arrangement of anchoring of ships and boats at safe shelters, regularly maintain communication, and promptly handle situations that may occur. At the same time, deploy measures to ensure safety for tourism, aquaculture, and fishing activities at sea, estuaries, and along the coast; resolutely evacuate people on rafts and aquaculture watchtowers to safe places before the storm makes landfall.
The Navy and Coast Guard direct their agencies and units to deploy measures to ensure safety for vehicles on duty at sea; prepare forces and means to search, rescue and salvage when situations occur at sea and on islands.
The Air Defense - Air Force Service , Corps 18 inspected and reviewed plans, organized forces and vehicles to be ready to conduct search and rescue flights when ordered by the Ministry of National Defense.
Corps, army corps, arms, academies, schools, and corporations under the Ministry of National Defense shall proactively coordinate and cooperate with local authorities to prepare forces and means to participate in response and rescue when requested.
According to the report of the Department of Search and Rescue (General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army), the army has mobilized a total of 457,469 people (including 99,156 soldiers, 318,943 militiamen, and 39,370 reserve soldiers) and 10,124 vehicles (403 special vehicles, 4,773 cars, 4,942 boats, and 6 airplanes) ready to respond to super typhoon No. 3.
