Electrical skills are highly applicable
The Central Highlands is preparing to enter the coffee harvest season. In Ia Phi commune (Gia Lai province), many people driving farm vehicles to garages in the area to repair machinery and repaint cargo boxes.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chung - owner of Nam Dung Garage, Ia Phi Commune said: "People mainly produce agriculture, grow coffee, pepper, durian and rice, so the rate of using agricultural machinery is very high. The main means of transport are tractors and farm vehicles to reduce the effort of harvesting during the crop. Therefore, the need for students to learn the vocational skills of repairing machines is very high".

According to Mr. Nhung, when hearing the information that the People's Committee of Ia Phi commune opened an electrical repair class for workers in poor and near-poor households, agricultural machinery repair shops were very excited because they could easily recruit more workers.
"My agricultural machinery repair shop is currently training 3 workers to improve their skills and have a stable income. Students need to have basic knowledge of electricity, engines, motion transmission, painting, assembling, etc. When in practice, they quickly become proficient in the profession; some students even cherish to open their own garages to meet the huge demand for machine repair of people in key agricultural areas, Mr. Duoc shared.

Going to each village to encourage vocational training
Every day, people in Ia Phi commune are busy with coffee plantations, fertilizing, and cutting grass to increase productivity, so they rarely stay at home. Commune officials had to call the village chief, instructing the people to gather at the village cultural house to listen to instructions and choose subjects to participate in electrical vocational training classes.

Mr. Pham Ba Nam - Head of the Department of Culture - Social Affairs, Ia Phi Commune People's Committee said: "Preparing for the crop season, people are busy, the commune sends staff to encourage people to spend time prioritizing vocational training. The classes will open on weekends or in the evening in villages and hamlets to attract students to study, listen and impart knowledge.
A representative of the Chu Pah Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center (Gia Lai province) said that lecturers will focus on teaching basic knowledge, easy to understand and vividly, reduce theory, increase practice, and "handshake work" for each student.

Electrical skills are very versatile, learners can repair electrical systems, televisions, fans, and household items themselves. When there is " industrial awareness", workers can easily apply for jobs at companies and enterprises in the area with stable income.
"When having a vocational certificate in hand, workers have more advantages when applying for a job at the factory than unskilled workers. Many agile and intelligent students can take on positions such as shift manager, manager, electrical technician at agricultural processing enterprises, said Mr. Vo Ngoc Quan, a lecturer at a vocational school.

Implementing the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province has identified: along with supporting livelihoods, vocational training, and improving the qualifications of workers, which is an urgent need.
Vocational training must be put into practice and substantially to help people have a bag to start a business and improve their lives. When income is stable, the poverty rate in villages and hamlets will gradually decrease significantly.
