Faced with concerns about the sharp increase in airfares near the Lunar New Year, many people have proactively planned their travel and booked tickets one to two months early to save costs and ensure travel schedules.
Nguyen Hai Linh (Can Tho) said that he had set a schedule to return to his hometown very early and started hunting for preferential tickets right from the beginning of December.
I fly from Hanoi to Can Tho, buying a one-way ticket costs only about 1 million VND/ticket. If I wait until near Tet to book, the price will definitely be much higher, and it will even be difficult to choose a suitable flight time," Linh shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (Dong Nai) said that her family bought tickets nearly two months before Tet. Proactively booking early not only helps her family save a significant amount of money but also easily choose flight times suitable for the activities of members, especially older people and young children.
My family has young children, so I prioritize booking early to choose a convenient flight time. Ticket prices at this time are still quite soft, because waiting close to Tet is both expensive and difficult to book," Ms. Hoa said.
According to Mr. Bui Thanh Tu - Marketing Director of BestPrice Travel Company - the Tet air ticket market has begun to experience local scarcity in some locations.
Currently, air tickets on some hot routes such as Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City - Hai Phong, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa,... are gradually becoming scarce. It is forecast that from December 23rd to the end of the twelfth lunar month and during Tet, ticket prices may increase by about 5 - 10% compared to the same period last year," Mr. Tu assessed.
People actively booking tickets early is considered an effective solution to limit costs, especially for families planning to return to their hometowns or travel for Tet.
''In the context of increasing retail prices, many passengers have switched to choosing package combo travel packages, including air tickets and hotels. These product packages are assessed to have more stable prices, while helping buyers save time and effort during peak season'', Mr. Tu said.
Also according to Mr. Bui Thanh Tu, when booking air tickets or buying Tet travel combo, people should prioritize reputable units, avoid buying floating tickets on social networks to prevent the risk of fraud or ticket cancellations, flight delays or unwanted costs.
''It is predicted that travel demand during Tet will continue to increase in the coming weeks. Early planning, regular ticket price monitoring and flexible travel time will be key to helping people have a convenient, safe and economical journey home for Tet'', Mr. Tu emphasized.
