On February 14, information from Da Nang City People's Committee, this unit issued a decision to announce an emergency situation of natural disaster due to landslides and subsidence in Dak Rich village, La Dee commune.
Due to the continuous impact of storms No. 12 and No. 13 accompanied by prolonged heavy rain, the hill area in Dak Rich village is currently showing many dangerous geological signs. Specifically, cracks longer than 100m have appeared here, subsidence more than 1m deep. In particular, soil moisture has reached saturation, making the risk of massive volumes of soil and rock collapsing very high. This situation is directly threatening the safety of 21 households with 84 people living right at the foot of the hill.
Faced with the urgent situation, the Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned specific tasks to the Chairman of La De Commune People's Committee - Head of the Commune Civil Defense Command - to immediately implement urgent measures to minimize damage to people and property.
Local authorities must closely monitor weather developments and landslides; be ready to mobilize forces and vehicles to evacuate and relocate people out of dangerous areas when heavy rain occurs. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure sufficient logistical conditions and food for people at safe shelters.
At the scene, functional units have strengthened the installation of warning signs, stretched ropes to cordon off dangerous areas and arranged 24/24h on-duty forces. The government strictly prohibits people and tourists from entering this area to avoid unfortunate incidents. Information and communication work has also been promoted to help people understand the level of danger, thereby proactively coordinating with functional agencies in prevention.
The City People's Committee directs relevant units to urgently review and develop plans for arranging and relocating residents. Specifically, plans for interspersed relocation or planning new resettlement areas, ensuring safe and sustainable production land and housing for people in disaster-stricken areas.
La Dee commune needs to regularly update the situation and promptly report to the City Civil Defense Command and relevant departments and branches to have close direction, not to be passive in the face of unusual developments of natural disasters.
