As Lao Dong Newspaper reported, Sergeant Kpa Thiep was granted leave by his unit to visit his family from July 19 to 30 in Ia Ko commune, Gia Lai.

On the morning of July 20, he and his wife, Ms. Ro Mah H'Thiep, went to pour rubber latex and fertilize the corn field until noon before returning, not even having time to eat rice. On the way back, seeing two people in the village asking to erect an electric pole, he helped again.

When the electric pole was just erected, all three people were electrocuted. Mr. Thiep was thrown out, but seeing two people still attached to the electric pole, he rushed in to pull them out. After that, all three were unconscious. Mr. Thiep fell near the ditch and died.

Sergeant Kpa Thiep was posthumously awarded the Medal of Courage by the President for his actions of not fearing danger, rescuing victims, contributing to spreading the noble image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era.
