On the morning of October 31, hundreds of people in Loc Ha town, Thach Kim commune and Thinh Loc commune (Loc Ha) gathered at the beach in this local commune to pick up razor clams, blood cockles, mussels and some mollusks washed ashore by the waves.
Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, 56 years old, residing in Xuan Hai village, Loc Ha town, scooped up 2 sacks of cockles and mussels and shared, "This is about 50kg, estimated to sell for about 700,000 VND".
Mr. Binh said that this morning he woke up at 5am and brought a net to Xuan Hai beach to catch clams. After more than 4 hours, he caught about 50kg.
On Thinh Loc beach, Ms. Pham Thi Phuc, 60 years old, living in Yen Diem village, Thinh Loc commune, and many others were picking up clams washed ashore by the waves. “Yesterday, I got up to pick clams from midnight until early morning and sold them for 500,000 VND. Today, there are fewer, I probably only sold a few hundred thousand VND,” Ms. Phuc shared.
According to local people, due to the impact of storm No. 6, Ha Tinh has had high tides and big waves over the past few days, causing clams, mussels and some mollusks to wash ashore.
Every year, after each storm, the beach here often has a lot of razor clams, blood cockles, and mussels, so people come together to catch them to eat and sell for money.
