Quang Ngai - Due to incomplete participants, the Provincial Department of Home Affairs requested to postpone the deadline for reporting and concluding the insurance debt case of 35 workers in Dak Ha commune.

Many issues need clarification

On May 15, a representative of the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Ngai province said that regarding the insurance debt of 35 workers in Dak Ha commune, the unit has sent an official letter to the Provincial People's Committee requesting to postpone the deadline for reporting and concluding to May 30, 2026.

According to the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Ngai province, the unit has invited relevant parties in the case to work to exchange and clarify the content, causes and handling plans. However, some units did not fully meet the invitation.

The merger of administrative units, dissolution of old units, establishment of new legal entities, as well as transfer of obligations for social insurance debt of the Commune Public Service Center still have many obstacles. The Department needs time to clarify and determine who has obligations and responsibilities to pay insurance for employees," said a representative of the Department of Home Affairs.

Insurance debt makes it more difficult for workers

As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Department of Home Affairs to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Social Insurance to organize inspection and verification of the case of 35 workers in Dak Ha commune being owed insurance, having to fend for themselves to pay insurance money and hospital fees, leading to the loss of many basic rights.

Functional sectors are assigned to advise and report on handling directions according to legal regulations, and send them to the Provincial People's Committee before May 13, 2026.

In April 2022, the Inspection Committee of the Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee (old) announced the conclusion: although there were no signs of profiteering from the social insurance fund at the Dak Ha District Urban Environment and Service Center, some unit leaders had violations, leading to failure to pay insurance money for 35 workers, civil servants and laborers.

Kon Tum Provincial Social Insurance (old) and the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee have requested to recover the amount of social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance, occupational accident insurance and late payment interest with a total amount of up to hundreds of millions of VND.

However, after many years, although the provincial level has directed and announced conclusions, the remediation is still slow and incomplete, leaving many consequences and frustration for environmental workers.

Many workers who want to quit their jobs have to run around everywhere, borrow money to pay off their social insurance debts to be resolved for benefits such as unemployment, sickness, maternity... Other workers are in difficulty and do not have enough conditions to pay insurance themselves.
