On December 7, according to information from the Nghe An Food Safety and Hygiene Department, by 8:00 p.m. on December 6, 84 workers in the province were hospitalized after lunch with symptoms of food poisoning.
Previously, at 3:00 p.m. on December 6, Nghe An Food Safety and Hygiene Department received information about a suspected food poisoning incident in Nghi Loc and Hung Nguyen districts.
Nghe An Food Safety and Hygiene Department has reported to the Department of Health, established an investigation team to verify the incident and has reported initial results.
Accordingly, the incident occurred on November 5, at Premium Fashion Vietnam Co., Ltd. (WHA IndustrialZone 1, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An) and JTEC Nghe An Co., Ltd. (VSIP Nghe An industrial park, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An).
Both companies where workers were hospitalized with suspected food poisoning received lunch from B.A.C Trading Joint Stock Company (No. 340, Dang Thai Mai Street, Hung Dong, Vinh City, Nghe An).
According to records, the first case of food poisoning appeared at around 1:00 p.m. the same day, the total number of people who ate lunch suspected of food poisoning was 1,215.
After the meal, 84 people had to be hospitalized with symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, rash...
Patients were diagnosed with food poisoning, grade 1 anaphylaxis.
By 8:00 p.m. the same day, 43 people had stabilized and been discharged from the hospital, while 41 cases are still being monitored.
Authorities have collected food samples and inspected the food supplier, B.A.C Trading Joint Stock Company.
Upon inspection, the facility owner was unable to present a Certificate of Food Safety and Hygiene Training, health certificates of 5/11 employees directly involved in food processing, contracts for providing meals to units, and contracts for providing food and food ingredients.
The three-step food inspection book and food sample logbook were presented but not recorded properly.
Regarding the actual conditions at the facility, at the time of investigation, it was noted that the facility had some problems such as poor hygiene in the areas.
The arrangement of areas is not reasonable. There are harmful insects and animals in the preparation and processing areas. The implementation of the three-step food inspection regime and the storage of food samples are not in accordance with regulations.
With the above problems, the authorities have decided to temporarily suspend the operations of the catering provider, B.A.C Trading Joint Stock Company.
At the same time, request the facility to correct the shortcomings and report to the Provincial Department of Food Safety and Hygiene.
