On May 20, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, leaders of Quy Nhon Ward People's Committee (Gia Lai) said that the Ward Police had a report on the results of verifying the case of people reflecting suspicion of a fake beef stall in the area.
Through verification, Quy Nhon Ward Police determined that at about 5 am on May 16, Ms. Vo Thi Xuan H. (born 1970, residing in Binh Dinh ward, Gia Lai province) was driven by her son to a fresh food business on Tran Hung Dao street (Quy Nhon ward) to buy 12kg of lean pork shoulder.

After that, Ms. H. brought this pork to the area near Dam market, in front of the sidewalk at house number 115 Nguyen Huu Tho (Quy Nhon ward) to sell along with the beef brought from home.
At about 11 am on the same day, Ms. Chau Thi Nhu Y. (born 1997, residing in Quy Nhon ward) came to Ms. H.'s meat stall to buy beef, Ms. H. was the one who directly cut the meat to sell to Ms. Y.
When bringing the meat home for processing, Ms. Y.'s husband, Mr. Vo Trong Nh. (born in 2000), noticed that the meat was white and had no characteristic smell of beef, so he suspected that his wife had been tricked into buying fake beef pork.
Mr. Nh. then brought the processed meat back to Ms. H.'s counter to question. At this time, Ms. H. had returned home, only Mr. Nguyen Van Th. (born 1974, residing in An Nhon Bac ward, a hired worker for Ms. H.) was watching the counter.
At the meat counter, Mr. Nh. asked Mr. Th. to try the meat he brought and confirmed whether it was beef or pork. Mr. Th. replied: "You buy how much, I will return it.
However, believing that Mr. Th. and Ms. H. had acts of deceiving customers, using marinating chemicals to "transform" pork into beef, Mr. Nh. broadcast the incident live on H.N.'s personal Facebook, and called on the online community to share to warn consumers.
From the documents and evidence collected, Quy Nhon Ward Police determined that Ms. H. had fraudulent acts against customers. Although selling pork, when customers bought beef, Ms. H. used pork to sell to customers.
Ms. H.'s actions violated regulations in commercial activities, production, trading of counterfeit goods, prohibited goods and protecting consumer rights. Currently, functional agencies are consolidating dossiers to handle Ms. H.'s actions according to regulations.
Regarding the content reflecting Ms. H. using chemicals and additives to "transform" pork into beef as account H.N. broadcast live on Facebook, the police determined that Ms. H. only bought and sold pork and beef products, not using chemicals to soak and marinate to "transform" pork into beef. Therefore, Mr. Nh.'s reflection is unfounded.
From the above incident, Quy Nhon Ward Police proposed that the Ward People's Committee and market management boards strengthen inspection and control of spontaneous food trading activities to promptly detect and handle violations, ensuring food safety for people.
As Lao Dong newspaper reported, on the morning of May 16, Facebook account H.N livestreamed a case of suspected buying fake beef, suspected of being "transformed" from pork at a meat stall in front of a resident's house on Nguyen Huu Tho street, next to Dam market.
I suspect this is marinated pork to fake beef to sell for profit. If it is true, this act is very condemnable because it directly affects consumers, especially young children," Mr. N. said.
According to Mr. N., after the incident was posted on social networks, many people also commented that they had encountered a similar situation when buying meat at this stall.
