On October 17, the People's Committee of Binh Chanh District (HCMC) informed about the explosion at an agarwood production facility in the area on October 15.
According to the report, Mr. H.'s agarwood production facility was formerly Quoc Bao Agarwood Company Limited, and the police have established a record of fire prevention and control management. In July 2023, Mr. H. completed the procedures to dissolve the above company.
On August 15, 2024, after inspecting Mr. H's facility, the police discovered that there was a violation of "Arranging materials and goods that do not ensure fire safety distance according to the provisions of law".
The police have drawn up an administrative penalty record and issued a decision to fine Mr. H. 1.5 million VND.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, at around 3:00 p.m. on October 15, the People's Committee of Vinh Loc A district received a report of an agarwood steaming furnace explosion at the facility at address A8/10Y/16K (Hamlet 7, Vinh Loc A commune).
Through verification, the above facility is owned by Mr. H.T.H. (born in 1982, residing in Binh Chanh district). The cause of the explosion originated from essential oil steamer No. 3 entering from the main door, burning the electrical wiring system and affecting the wall structure of the ground floor building used as a workshop for processing agarwood essential oil steaming.
The explosion injured 10-year-old N.T.P.A. So far, the child's health is normal and is being monitored by his family.
The explosion also affected 5 neighboring houses. Of which, Mr. N.V.T.'s house (52m2) had part of the border wall collapsed, damaging the motorbike's bodywork; Mr. B.V.L.'s house (52m2) had a section of the border wall collapsed; Mr. L.T.H.'s house (48m2) had the ceiling collapsed, the house's door glass broken; Mr. L.V.D.'s house (56m2) had a section of the border wall cracked and Mrs. N.T.V.'s house (48m2) had the glass of the 4-panel door broken.
Regarding the incident, leaders of Binh Chanh district also went to the scene of the explosion to grasp the situation, direct the investigation, handle the incident and have a plan to support and overcome the damage for affected households, so that people can quickly stabilize their lives.
The delegation also visited, encouraged and provided support to baby A. and families affected by the explosion.
