On August 31, Gia Lai Provincial Police are investigating the cause of a serious traffic accident that occurred in the area.
Accordingly, at about 3:10 am on August 31, at Km10+600 of the western Pleiku bypass road, in Hoi Phu ward, a traffic accident occurred when a sleeper bus was traveling on a road that was not allowed to operate. The bus overturned, killing 1 person on the spot and injuring 6 others.
At the above time, a sleeper passenger car with license plate 50E-449. 17 was traveling in the direction from Ham Rong to Dak Doa commune. When reaching Km10+600, the passenger car overturned on the right side of the road in the direction of traffic.
At the time of the incident, the area had heavy rain, dark weather, and thick fog. Mud and soil from both sides of the road spilled onto the road surface, creating a mud layer about 10cm thick, making the road surface slippery.
Notably, at the time of the accident, this road had not been inspected, handed over and put into operation and use. Some items on the route are continuing to be completed to ensure the conditions according to regulations.
Through the incident, Gia Lai Provincial Police recommends that people, businesses and transport units not arbitrarily circulate on roads that have not been inspected, handed over and allowed to be exploited and used.
Circulation on roads that do not yet meet operating conditions poses a potential risk of traffic unsafety, especially in conditions of heavy rain and limited visibility.
Gia Lai Provincial Police request vehicle drivers to proactively find out the operating status of the road before traveling, choose a suitable route, especially for roads under construction, completed or not yet allowed to be put into use.
The case is being further verified and investigated by the Gia Lai Provincial Police Investigation Agency to clarify the cause and related contents for handling according to the provisions of law.
