Before the flood occurred, people in Don Duong district simultaneously sowed long-term vegetables such as napa cabbage, cabbage, radishes, carrots, cauliflower... to serve the 2026 Lunar New Year market. However, the historic flood caused damage to almost the entire area of newly sown vegetables.
Fortunately, from now until Tet, there is still enough time for farmers to switch to producing short-term vegetables such as lettuce, star anise, sprouts, scallions and spices.
This is a group of crops with a short growing time, easy to consume and suitable for post-rain and flood farming conditions.

Don Duong is one of the largest vegetable production areas of the country with about 2,000 hectares of vegetables of all kinds. Every year, along with Da Lat and Lac Duong, the locality plays an important role in supplying Tet agricultural products to southern provinces and cities.
Immediately after stabilizing their accommodation and cleaning up the consequences of rain and floods, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan's family (Dran commune) urgently renovated the vegetable garden by the Da Nhim river. The previous flood swept away the entire area of Tet vegetables that had just been sown for about 10 days.

With the support of functional forces and local organizations, nearly 1ha of his family's production land has been cleared and renovated after nearly a week. Mr. and Mrs. Tuan chose to plant sticky rice balls and herbs to harvest in time before Tet.
Now I only know how to focus on taking care of them, hoping for the day of harvesting vegetables at good prices to compensate for some of the damage caused by the flood," Mr. Tuan shared.
According to the People's Committee of Don Duong commune, during the floods at the end of November 2025, the agricultural cultivation area along the Da Nhim River was seriously affected.
To help people soon stabilize production, the locality has guided farmers to take advantage of favorable weather to sow short-term vegetables to serve Tet.

Ms. Dinh Thi Hong's family has renovated more than 5,000m2 of land along the Da Nhim River and planted green cabbage - a vegetable with a harvest time of 20–30 days, even early harvest can be achieved after 18–20 days with young cabbage.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (Ka Do commune) said that after the water receded, the vegetable garden was swept away, the fertile soil was completely lost, leaving only garbage and sand and rocks. Her family spent more than 10 days reclaiming the soil and has now planted more than 3,000m2 of short-term vegetables such as lettuce, scallions, and spices.

According to the Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Lam Dong province, the vegetable planting plan for 2025 of the whole province is 92,000ha. To date, the planting area has reached more than 90,500ha, with an output of about 2.6 million tons.
The flood in late November 2025 alone caused damage to about 3,000 hectares of vegetables, equivalent to 90,000 tons. The whole province has more than 4,570 hectares of crops affected, most of which are vegetables and rice.
Despite suffering great damage due to floods, the Lam Dong agricultural sector affirms that the supply of vegetables for the 2026 Lunar New Year market is still guaranteed.
Affected flood areas have promptly switched to short-term vegetable growing, while other localities such as Da Lat, Lac Duong, Duc Trong continue to maintain stable vegetable areas, grow well, and are ready to meet market demand during Tet.
