September rain for about 21 days at Long Thanh airport project
According to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), in September 2025, continuous heavy rain (about 21 days of rain) will seriously affect the entire construction work, disrupting many items, especially underground works such as tunnels, drainage systems, roadbeds, etc.
ACV has directed contractors to have appropriate construction measures, mobilizing hundreds of construction teams, nearly 14,000 experts, engineers, workers, laborers and about 3,000 construction equipment to speed up the progress with the goal of basically completing the project by the end of 2025, putting it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026.
To date, the entire project has 15 packages, of which 3 have been completed and 12 packages are under construction.
In particular, package 5.10 for the construction of the passenger terminal by Vietur consortium is the gantt road for the entire project. At the same time, it is also considered the heart of Long Thanh airport.
Package 5.10 started in August 2023 with a completion schedule of 39 months (until November 30, 2026). Then the progress was adjusted to strive to complete the basic construction and installation of equipment before December 31, 2025; Conduct acceptance, training and testing before May 31, 2026.
Currently, the construction of the main roof and the surrounding roof areas has been completed in August 2025.
The roof has also been basically completed in September 2025 and is expected to complete the central area roof layers before November 30, 2025.
The steel structure of the cable-stayed bridge will also be completed before October 30, 2025 and the roof of the cable-stayed bridge will be completed before November 30, 2025.
The runway has been completed, welcoming the first standard flight
Currently, ACV has made efforts and directed contractors to complete the installation of mechanical equipment for the baggage handling system in the western wing area before December 19, 2025; At the same time, ACV urged to urgently speed up production and transport all equipment to the construction site in December 2025 to complete the electricity construction and connection work, validation, trial operation and officially handover for operation in early June 2026.
Complete the installation of luggage-centric screening machines before December 19, 2025, the security screening equipment installation items are ready for installation.
Complete the installation of 28/64 passenger bridges before December 19, 2025; the remaining passenger bridges will be completed and installed in the first quarter of 2026.
The aircraft mooring system will also complete the installation of 130 sets before December 31, 2025.
The escalator system, sidewalk elevators, and elevators are expected to be completed and installed in December 2025 when the construction site meets safety and waterproof conditions and the site is handed over promptly by the construction contractor.
In addition, packages such as package 4.6 have basically completed the runway item. On September 26, 2025, Long Thanh airport officially welcomed its first standard flight; Package 6.12 up to now, route No. 1 was technically opened to traffic on April 30, 2025, route No. 2 has paved 90% of asphalt concrete, aiming to complete the entire package 6.12 in November 2025.

Component project 3 - Essential works in the Airport under the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1 invested by ACV. The scale of phase 1 of the project with 2 runways, 1 passenger terminal and synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year; 1.2 million tons of cargo/year. The project has a total investment of more than VND 99,000 billion, basically completed in 2025; put into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026.
