On November 19, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 said that officers and soldiers of CSB 8021 provided first aid to a fisherman in distress while fishing at sea.
According to initial information, at around 5:30 p.m. on November 18, while on duty in the southern continental shelf, CSB 8021 received a request for assistance in rescuing a crew member in distress. Immediately, CSB 8021 reported to superiors and was ordered to approach and promptly rescue the crew member of fishing vessel KG-95960.TS.
The fisherman who was in the accident was crew member Vo Van Ut (born in 1962, from Kien Giang). While fishing, he was hit in the head by a net rope, causing heavy bleeding and a wound with a high risk of infection, which is very dangerous.
The CSB 8021 Medical Team urgently cleaned the wound, performed 11 stitches (including 7 stitches on the head; 4 stitches on the ears and neck) and bandaged the wound to stop the bleeding, while giving the victim high doses of antibiotics.
At 8:00 p.m. the same day, the victim's health condition was stable, he was conscious, and the wound had stopped bleeding. At this time, CSB 8021 handed over crew member Vo Van Ut to KG-95960.TS to bring him ashore for further treatment.
