On November 15, the people of Nuoc Ngot village in Nam Cam Ranh commune completed the burial of dead pigs according to traditional customs.
Previously, on November 12, people in Nuoc Ngot village discovered a pig straying near the shore.
Many fishermen then helped to guide the fish back to deep water. However, on the morning of November 13, large waves continued to drift fishing back to shore.
According to the people, on the afternoon of November 14, the health of the pigs was clearly weakened, making it almost impossible to swim and follow the waves.
Worried that the fish would continue to be swept away by the waves, the people agreed to bring the fish to Ong's mausoleum in the village to look after and bury after the animal died.
Vietnamese coastal fishermen have long considered pork and whale as Ong Nam Hai, the sacred god who always protects and helps them when they encounter difficulties at sea.
Therefore, when the whale was discovered floating ashore, the villagers took care of and protected it, and if the fish died, a solemn funeral would be held, showing respect for the sea god.
