The Department of Fisheries of Ha Tinh province said that on December 13, the Northern Center for Environmental Monitoring and Aquatic Diseases - Aquaculture Research Institute I (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) announced the results of water sample analysis at the fish pond of Mr. Nguyen Van Nguyen (born in 1976, residing in Thach Ha commune, Ha Tinh city).
Analysis results show that pond water shows signs of organic pollution, so when it rains a lot, it can lead to stratification and lack of oxygen at the bottom layer, affecting fish health.

In addition, low salinity and alkalinity, along with sudden weather changes, weaken the fish's resistance. The combination of these factors can be the cause of fish deaths.
Currently, the Department of Fisheries of Ha Tinh province has also requested local authorities and functional agencies to guide households to collect dead fish and dispose of them in the right place; not to throw away dead fish and discharge untreated water into the environment.
Check and review the number of fish still alive in the pond to have appropriate and timely care and treatment plans. Temporarily stop fish farming activities at the present time; Renovate the pond thoroughly before stocking the new crop.
Previously, on December 11, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that at a 36-hectare pomfret pond located in Thach Ha commune (Ha Tinh city) and Ho Do (Loc Ha district), there was a situation of dead fish covering the pond, giving off a foul smell.
The lake owner had to hire people to row boats to collect dead fish and destroy them to limit environmental impact.
The leader of Thach Ha commune informed that an estimated 1.5 tons of pomfret in that pond died, causing damage of about 100 million VND.
