On July 14, the People's Committee of Phuoc Thang Ward (HCMC) said it was verifying and clarifying the incident in which many large concrete piles were planted on a branch of the Dinh River.
Previously, people reported that there were some concrete piles 3-5m high, with a diameter of more than 20cm, built in the middle of the Ba Coi River (a branch of the Dinh River); where there were many households living by aquaculture (ham, shrimp...)
The appearance of concrete piles is quite unusual when lying across the riverbed. Therefore, the local government conducted an inspection.
Initially, it was noted that about 20 concrete piles had been planted into the riverbed, and it is suspected that the subjects had been illegally constructing at night recently. The police force also organized to approach the scene at night but have not discovered the construction worker.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung - Chairman of Phuoc Thang Ward People's Committee - said that although there have been inspection instructions, the construction site is located in the middle of the river and takes place at night, so it is difficult to detect violators.
"Initially, we determined that the stake-casting had signs of illegally encroaching on the river surface. Currently, specialized agencies verify related individuals and organizations to invite them to work according to regulations, Mr. Dung informed.
