On November 25, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province said that in recent times, the local tourism industry has had a fairly high growth rate, contributing positively to the overall growth of the province.
In 2023, the whole province welcomed more than 14 million tourists, with total revenue from tourists reaching more than 14,994 billion VND. In 2024, it is estimated that by the end of October, the whole province will welcome more than 14.4 million visitors, reaching 92.76% of the yearly plan, up 20% over the same period. Revenue is estimated at 15,397 billion VND, reaching 93.37% of the yearly plan, up 21% over the same period...
Despite good growth, Ba Ria - Vung Tau tourism still has many limitations such as: seasonal nature; products and services are not diverse; tourism promotion is limited; tour and tourism route connections are not synchronized... Therefore, the strengths of the locality have not been promoted and there is a lack of competitiveness.
According to Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, to create a breakthrough and substantial development, the Provincial People's Committee has directed to focus on implementing 4 key contents in the coming time.
In particular, a very important content is to build a tourism brand of Ba Ria - Vung Tau at national and international level. The brand will be formed and developed in association with 8 types of tourism and services in the locality including: beach resort tourism, conference tourism (MICE), sports tourism, eco-tourism, cultural-historical tourism, entertainment tourism, medical tourism, community tourism.
At the same time, the organization of national and international festivals and events will be focused on innovation and diversification of forms. For example, organizing high-class events with longer duration (3-7 days); enhancing tourism promotion activities; building fanpage channels to promote events and festivals held locally.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau will also strengthen the promotion and advertising of cruise tourism; step up the reception of international cruise tourists; introduce tourism products in the area; seek opportunities for cooperation in tourism development. Including the task of researching and investing in the Vung Tau international passenger port project...
According to the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the above key tasks and solutions aim to increase the number of tourists by 16-18%/year; revenue increases by 28-20%/year in the coming time. The province also sets a target that by 2030, the average length of stay of tourists in Ba Ria - Vung Tau will increase from 1.8 days to 2.4 days; spending will increase to about 4.3 million VND/person; and the local tourism brand will be formed with a system of high-quality infrastructure and technical facilities to serve tourists.
