At 12 noon on November 15, an ambulance parked in front of the lobby of the Emergency Room of Nghe An Provincial General Hospital suddenly caught fire.
Immediately after discovering the incident, hospital staff used many small fire extinguishers to try to control the fire. However, the car continued to burn, accompanied by a column of black smoke rising high into the air.
While the fire was raging, loud explosions came from inside the ambulance, causing many witnesses to jump back in surprise.
About 30 minutes later, the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police of Nghe An province arrived to control the fire.
Information from the leader of Nghe An General Hospital confirmed that the ambulance of General Hospital 115 caught fire while transporting a patient to the emergency room. Immediately after that, the patient was promptly moved out of the ambulance.
"The fire damaged the ambulance, but caused no casualties," initial information said.
The cause of the ambulance fire is being further investigated by authorities.
