On June 1, information from the People's Committee of Vu Quang town (Vu Quang district, Ha Tinh province) said that a traffic accident had just occurred in the area, causing property damage.
At about 20:15 on May 31, a truck with license plate 38H-015.88 carrying excavators and bulldozers traveling from Ho Chi Minh Road to the center of Vu Quang Town, when passing through Huong Dai Bridge, collided strongly with a steel welcome gate about 5m high. The collision caused the gate structure to break and collapse onto the traffic road.
Fortunately, at the time of the incident, there were no vehicles or people moving below, so no casualties were recorded. However, the incident caused serious disruption to traffic on the main axis to the town center.
Immediately afterwards, the local authorities mobilized police and militia forces to block off the scene and guide vehicles through another route through Huong Minh commune. A large crane was also mobilized to move the collapsed gate and temporarily return the traffic area.
It is known that construction machinery trucks are of outstanding height, while the welcome gate does not have a maximum height warning sign or night reflector. This increases the risk of accidents if the driver does not have a clear understanding of the vehicle parameters.
According to local people, this welcome gate has been built for a long time, a welcome symbol at the gateway to the town center; however, the structure is not too solid and can easily become a danger if colliding with a heavy-duty vehicle.
The specific cause is being further clarified by the authorities.
