In recent days, on social networks, video clips have continuously appeared "accusing" acts of dumping waste into the marine environment in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan.
On the morning of October 28, a clip was released showing a man driving a tricycle who was accused of "carrying trash to throw on the beach" in Mui Ne ward, Phan Thiet city. The clip received many shares and angry comments on the tiktok platform.
According to the reporter's verification with the leader of Mui Ne Ward People's Committee, the locality said that at noon on October 28, they worked with the man driving the tricycle and this person said that this was not carrying garbage to dump but was transporting shrimp flowers and baby lobster traps for a local fisherman. The Ward People's Committee also worked with the person who hired them to transport baby lobster traps and the above report also matched.
On the morning of October 29, a clip appeared showing a resort employee pushing a garbage cart to dump waste near the beach. The People's Committee of Phu Hai Ward, Phan Thiet, has investigated and issued an administrative fine to the resort.
Regarding the issue of dumping waste into the marine environment, Mr. Le Thanh Son - Vice Chairman of Phan Thiet City People's Committee said that it is not okay for employees working in the tourism environment to have this kind of awareness.
“Dumping garbage into the sea causes serious environmental and aesthetic impacts. If it is verified, I will direct immediate handling,” Mr. Son emphasized.
Citing this, Mr. Son said that in the case of a coffee shop employee in Mui Ne dumping waste into the sea, after the city received the information, it directed the People's Committee of Mui Ne ward to verify, work with the shop owner and issue a decision to impose an administrative fine of 1.5 million VND.
The Vice Chairman of the Phan Thiet City People's Committee also added that when receiving feedback from the people and the press, it will be reported to superiors for immediate handling and correction, so as not to affect the image of the tourist city.
