The People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province has issued a document assigning the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committee of Lang Chanh district and relevant agencies to urgently inspect and verify information reflecting on the pig farm of Agri-Vina Company, although it has just resumed operations, spreading a foul smell, affecting the environment and people's lives.

The Provincial People's Committee requests strict handling of violations (if any) and reporting the implementation results before June 20.
According to the representative of the Lang Chanh District People's Committee, after receiving feedback from the people, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment conducted an inspection of the current status of the pig farm of Agri-Vina Company. When the inspection results are available, the locality will propose the next handling direction.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, in 2021, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province approved the investment policy for the pig farm project in Tan Phuc commune to Agri-Vina Agricultural Investment Joint Stock Company. The project is large-scale with 32 pig farms (more than 44,000m2), 7 pig farms after dairy (nearly 8,000m2), a 15ha production forest and a designed capacity of 60,000 pigs/year. On January 10, 2024, the project was granted an environmental license.
After completing the procedures, in early 2024, Agri-Vina Company put the pigs into trial farming. However, just a few days later, the farm was reported by people to be spreading a strong stench. In that situation, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province has suspended the farm from July 30, 2024 so that the company can fix the problem.
On May 30, 2025, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued a document allowing Agri-Vina Company to continue to raise pigs at the design capacity. However, in a short time, authorities and people have discovered a recurrent environmental pollution, affecting Tan Phuc commune and Lang Chanh town.
