During the National Day holidays on September 2, present at Provincial Road 156 under the project to build a border bridge across the Red River in Bat Xat Commune, Lao Cai Province, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters recorded the bustling activities of workers and a series of machines at the construction site.
Here, workers are constructing items such as foundations and bridge piers, and transporting materials for the construction process.


Through research, the investment project to build a border bridge over the Red River in Ban Vuoc commune and connecting infrastructure includes 3 components, implemented in the period of 2021-2025.
In which, component 1: Construction of a border bridge across the Red River; upgrading Provincial Road 156 (Kim Thanh - Ngoi Phat) from the intersection with BV32 and BV28 roads to the intersection with BV190 road (3km long); upgrading and renovating the Noi Bai - Lao Cai IC 18 expressway intersection.

Component 2 includes: Upgrading Provincial Road 156 (Kim Thanh - Ngoi Phat) from Quang Kim Bridge to the intersection with BV32 and BV28 roads (8km long) and leveling the ground on both sides of the road with a depth of 50m; component 3: Upgrading and renovating IC19 intersection.
The total investment is 1,490 billion VND, the Central budget supports 950 billion VND, the local budget matches 540 billion VND.
The construction units are Minh Duc General Construction Company Limited, Cuong Thinh Thi Construction Investment and Development Joint Stock Company and Dong Hung Development Investment Joint Stock Company.


For the border bridge project across the Red River connecting Bat Xat (Vietnam) - Ba Sai (China), the total investment capital is about 282 billion VND.
The joint venture of Trung Chinh Construction and Trading Company Limited and Inland Waterway Management and Maintenance Joint Stock Company is the construction unit, implemented within 18 months.
In Vietnam, the bridge construction location is at Ban Vuoc border gate, Bat Xat district, about 700 m downstream of marker 97 on the Red River.
The project will have the following scale: Extradosed main bridge over the Red River (low- tower cable-stayed bridge); girder made of prestressed reinforced concrete according to the cantilever casting method combined with fan-less cable-stayed cable-stayed, tower pillars are 20 m high from the bridge surface.
The width of the bridge is 35.3 m, of which the Vietnamese side will build half of the main bridge (115 m long).


The bridge and approach road on the Vietnam side are 40 m long and are made of reinforced concrete box beams for force cast on fixed scaffolding. The road at the head of the bridge is 232.5 m long, the roadbed is 35 m wide, the road surface is 25 m wide.
"Taking advantage of the sunny weather, we mobilized excavators and constructed the bridge items through the ceremony so that the project could be completed on time," said the representative of the construction unit.
The contractor is speeding up construction activities to ensure the project will be completed in September 2026, after 18 months of construction.



Mr. Pham Minh Hai - Deputy Director of the Lao Cai Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board - also said: "With the goal of putting the bridge into use soon, promoting economic development and trade of goods, during the National Day holiday on September 2, the construction site on the Vietnamese side still maintains about 50 workers and many construction machinery and equipment.
According to Mr. Pham Minh Hai, the contractor has basically completed 5/5 T9 and 12/12 T8 bored piles. The implementation value to date is 39/280.25 billion VND, reaching 14%.
