On April 20, representatives of the leaders of Thach Quang Commune People's Committee, Thanh Hoa province, said that the unit had just issued a document requesting to stop operations for the environmentally polluting facility.

Thach Quang Commune People's Committee requested BOB Hanoi Co., Ltd. to immediately suspend laundry operations at Thach Tuong Export Garment Factory to review and renovate the entire wastewater collection and treatment system. This is to overcome the situation of untreated wastewater flowing into the environment.
At the same time, businesses must report to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Thach Quang Commune People's Committee for survey and evaluation before resuming operations.
In addition, the company is requested to urgently implement measures to overcome the consequences of environmental pollution; coordinate with the People's Committee of Thach Quang commune and households in Quang Trung village with tap water sources showing strange colors and smells (similar to untreated wastewater) to ensure the supply of hygienic water for daily life for affected people, until the well water source returns to normal.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, recently, many households in Quang Trung village, Thach Quang commune discovered that drilled well water suddenly turned red-purple, accompanied by a foul odor.

According to people, this situation had happened before, but this time it is serious and prolonged. Not only is the color of the drilled well water changed, a similar phenomenon has also appeared at Bai Ron stream in the village.
After the incident occurred, people reported it to the local authorities and functional agencies. Upon receiving the information, functional forces checked and took water samples to verify and clarify.
Initially determined, the phenomenon of Bai Ron stream water and drilled well water of households changing color is related to the waste discharge incident of BOB Hanoi Co., Ltd. - Branch 1 (textile and garment, laundry sector) in the area.
