The Chairman of Binh Dinh Province requested the authorities to strictly handle the stone theft that occurred on Hon Cha Mountain, and at the same time clarify the force behind stopping the stone bandits.

After a series of articles by Lao Dong Newspaper reflecting on the problem of Hon Cha Mountain (Tran Quang Dieu Ward, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh) being "cut up" by thieves every night for illegal exploitation, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan directed the authorities to urgently investigate and strictly handle the case.

"The viewpoint of the provincial leaders is to handle it strictly, especially to clarify whether there is anyone behind the protection of this illegal activity," Mr. Pham Anh Tuan resolutely said.

A private source of Lao Dong said that the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Dinh Province Police is determining the value of resources, consolidating records to prosecute a group of subjects illegally mining stone on Hon Cha Mountain for violating regulations on mineral exploitation.

"In addition to the 4 subjects who have just been arrested, the Investigation Police Agency is continuing to verify the crime report and arrest the subjects related to the case," said the leader of Binh Dinh Provincial Police.

At the scene, the authorities seized 11 stone blocks with a total estimated weight of more than 50m3, along with many valuable mining equipment and means such as excavators, center drilling machines and specialized handheld tools for stone mining activities.

At the same time, it clarified the reason why illegal stone miners on Hon Cha mountain can use a 3-phase power source.
