The above information was given by Mr. Dao Cong Quyet - Head of the Communications Sub-committee of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) when evaluating E10 gasoline.
Regarding the roadmap for using E10 gasoline expected to be applied from June 1, 2026, VAMA affirms that car manufacturers always accompany the Government's clean fuel roadmap.
Currently, most new car models of VAMA members are designed to be compatible with E10 gasoline. Businesses have also deployed information disclosure about the use of E10 gasoline to dealer systems and customers.
For car lines being sold on the market, the materials used to make the fuel system, from the fuel tank, fuel pump to the injection needle and buffers, have all been researched and selected in the direction of alcohol resistance (ethanol resistant).
Therefore, corrosion or aging of rubber joints will not occur if customers use the correct E10 fuel according to the National Standard QCVN 01:2022 of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Therefore, customers can completely rest assured to use it," Mr. Dao Cong Quyet affirmed.
In terms of technology, Mr. Dao Cong Quyet said that most new car models are well compatible with E10 gasoline. VAMA recommends that customers who own old cars should proactively check their cars at genuine dealers for advice and replace details such as gaskets and fuel pipes if necessary before switching to using E10 gasoline.
According to VAMA, the research and use of biofuels has been deployed by global automakers in many markets such as Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil... In addition, the Vietnamese Government has also issued regulations related to biofuels more than 10 years ago.
Therefore, before bringing cars to the Vietnamese market, manufacturers all conduct technical evaluations based on actual operating conditions and Vietnamese standards to ensure the highest compatibility level before making official recommendations to customers.
Regarding some concerns that E10 gasoline may cause vehicles to become sluggish, lose throttle, or affect operational capacity, Mr. Dao Cong Quyet said that phenomena such as vehicle sluggishness or throttle failure usually only occur when the octane value of the fuel is not suitable or the fuel is mixed with impurities and water.
Meanwhile, E10 gasoline has an octane value equivalent to or higher than ordinary mineral gasoline, which helps the burning process take place more stably. If the car is maintained periodically and E10 gasoline meets the standards according to the manufacturer's recommendations, then the phenomenon of running out of gas will not occur," Mr. Quyet said.
In addition to periodic maintenance, VAMA representatives remind customers not to leave the car for too long without using it, especially in cases where the fuel tank still has little fuel. The reason is that ethanol has the property of absorbing moisture from the air, which can cause water stagnation in the fuel tank. In addition, users need to strictly comply with regulations to replace the gasoline filter according to the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure that the fuel system is always clean.
In fact, biofuels are not a new trend. Many countries have deployed ethanol-mixed gasoline for a long time and car manufacturers have also had a very thorough research and testing process before commercializing products. Current technical standards all aim to ensure stable engine operation, while meeting emission reduction and environmental protection requirements," Mr. Quyet said.
According to VAMA representatives, for the Vietnamese market, the application of E10 gasoline is also part of the roadmap for developing clean fuels and reducing emissions according to the general direction.
The important thing is that users need to use standard fuel, maintain the car periodically and comply with the manufacturer's technical recommendations to ensure operating efficiency as well as engine life," a VAMA representative emphasized.
