The Ministry of Transport is drafting the National Technical Regulation on automobiles, trailers and semi-trailers participating in road traffic. The regulation is expected to take effect from January 1, 2025.
Regarding the standards for inspection of mirrors and rear view cameras (for vehicles using cameras instead of mirrors)
Testing method:
Observe and shake with your hands.
Evaluation criteria must meet the following standards:
Complete, sturdy installation.
The left side must have a visibility of at least 2.5 m at a position 10 m behind the mirror.
On the right side of a car or truck with a total mass of no more than 2 tons, a minimum width of 4 m must be visible at a position 20 m behind the mirror; for other types of vehicles, a minimum width of 3.5 m must be visible at a position 30 m behind the mirror.
The observed image is not distorted and clear.
Mirrors must be adjustable, not cracked, broken, or damaged.
Dashboard gauges and indicators, trip monitors, surveillance cameras, other add-on equipment (in the cabin).
Engine and related systems gauges, indicators
The test method is to run the engine, vary the rpm and observe.
Evaluation criteria are as follows:
Brake system pressure gauge, engine coolant temperature indicator, speedometer operate normally, no error indication; error warning lights on the dashboard do not display red.
Other watches work normally, no errors reported; error warning lights on the control panel do not show yellow.
Travel monitoring device, travel monitoring camera, surveillance camera (including additional installation)
The verification method is to use the login name and password to access the electronic information page for managing the journey monitoring device provided by the vehicle owner or the Vietnam Road Administration.
Evaluation criteria are as follows: Accessible; Accurate display of vehicle information on the website; Display of observation images (if the device type has integrated camera image display).
Dash cam
