According to PV on October 9, in areas where the water has receded in the center of Thai Nguyen province, many cars were submerged in water and were taken away by cranes. Some vehicles were covered with mud, even opened and broke the doors.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Hung (Phan Dinh Phung ward, Thai Nguyen province) is calling all the garages in the area to book a repair for his family's 7-seat car that had been submerged in water for nearly 3 days. Although he had called the 5th garage, no one had accepted to repair Mr. Hung's car.
"Every garage says they have to wait at least a week because the number of flooded vehicles is too large, everyone wants to quickly repair their vehicles because the longer it takes, the more difficult it will be to repair, the damage will get worse, the cost of transportation will increase," Mr. Hung worried.

As for Mr. Duong Van Thanh (Tuc Duyen ward, Thai Nguyen province), despite his experience from the historic flood in 2024, this year Mr. Thanh has moved his car to a higher location but could not avoid flooding because the flood peak was higher than last year.
"In the past, my car was soaked in water twice. Last year I spent more than 100 million VND to repair my car, this year it must be the same. Right from the moment I knew the car was flooded, I contacted a garage in Hanoi to bring the car as soon as the water receded, but if they repaired it in Thai Nguyen, they would have to wait a long time," said Mr. Thanh.
Although there are no specific statistics, the number of cars submerged in water in Thai Nguyen during the recent flood is estimated to be up to tens of thousands. With this number, it has exceeded the repair capacity of garages in the area.

Mr. Hung - the owner of a car repair garage in Phan Dinh Phung ward - said that many car owners have called to book repairs since 2 days ago, many people have even transferred money in advance to reserve a seat.
"A vehicle is flooded too much, while the time to handle a flooded vehicle usually takes 7 to 15 days, or even longer. Although I really want to receive the car to repair for everyone, the craftsman only has that certificate, whoever orders first, I give priority to", Mr. Hung said.
If the vehicle is flooded, repair it as soon as possible to help avoid major damage and save costs for the owner. Therefore, Mr. Hung advised people with flooded vehicles who cannot repair them in Thai Nguyen to quickly take their vehicles to neighboring provinces.
Meanwhile, many car garages in Hanoi have also begun sending cranes to Thai Nguyen to bring flooded vehicles for repair according to customer requests. Most of them had been scheduled and agreed upon in advance.
Mr. Truong - the owner of a car repair garage on Tam Trinh Street (Hanoi) said: "This morning, I rented 3 cranes to move from Hanoi to Thai Nguyen to bring customers' cars to the factory. They booked a few days ago, all of which were heavily submerged in water. Last year, my workshop repaired 9 flooded cars in Thai Nguyen".
According to Mr. Truong, when a car has been flooded for many days, the only option is to remove all the furniture and remove it from the toilet and dry it. If the engine part is not hit by the water, you must also change the oil and clean it thoroughly. The electric part of most vehicles will have to be completely replaced.
"The more expensive the repair cost depends on the type of vehicle, the larger the replacement repair cost because the vehicle has many sensors and technology. If the vehicle is hit by a watercraft, it will be more expensive because it has to lower the engine and replace many spare parts.
For vehicles that are running but have stalled due to water entering, absolutely do not try to re khoi dong to avoid being hit by a watercraft. For vehicles that have been flooded for a long time, remove the battery cucums before turning on the power lock to avoid the controller failure," Mr. Truong advised.
