Forecast of motorbike demand in 2025 in Thailand

FTI Industrial Federation FTI (Federation of Thai Industries) forecast motorbike production in 2025 will continue to decrease as in 2024.

According to the FTI Thai Industrial Federation, in 2025, motorbike production is expected to reach only 2.1 million vehicles because buyers have difficulty accessing loans in the domestic market.

Producing 2 -wheel cars in 2024 in Thailand reached 2.42 million vehicles, down 1.8% over the same period in 2023. 88 million vehicles, although disassembled motorbikes increased by 53.1% to 539,159 vehicles. In December 2024, motorbike production in Thailand decreased by 6.5% compared to the same period in 2023, to 202,614 vehicles.

The production outlook for 2025 is in line with the GDP forecast, despite the strict criteria of banks and auto finance companies when granting loans in the context of high-level households still controlling the operation of the motorbike market in 2025.

According to Mr. Surapong Paisitapanapong - Vice President of FTI and spokesman for the Automobile Industry Club, with the expectation of higher GDP growth from the government, the goal of motorbike production in 2025 will be achieved.

Regarding the target of 2.1 million motorbikes, it is expected that there will be 1.7 million motorbikes for the domestic market and the remaining with 400,000 vehicles for export.

The Financial Policy Office predicts that the economic growth is 3.5% in 2025, up from the estimated growth of 2.5% in 2024.

Last December, motorbike sales in Thailand decreased by 5.7% over the same period in 2023 to 124,793 vehicles.

Mr. Surapong also informed that in 2024, sales decreased by 9.35% compared to the same period in 2023, to 1.68 million vehicles, of which the internal combustion engine decreased by 9.3% and electric motorbike fell 52. , 3%, only sold 200 cars in 2024.

The Vice President of FTI added that motorbike exports in 2024 were very positive (an increase of 14.1% over the same period in 2023 to 938,762 vehicles), although the value decreased by 6.7% to 1.89 billion USD.
