Although there have been many discussions about Hyundai and Kia producing electric pickup trucks, both companies have no plans to launch their products this year. Meanwhile, the model Musso EV of KGM is expected to be launched in Korea in the first quarter of 2025.
The name KGM is still unfamiliar to many people because this is the car company that re-established the brand after filing bankruptcy in 2020. Previously, KGM was known as SsangYang - the Korean automaker specializing in crossover and SUV, with history formed in 1954 and has many popular models.
The brand's first product is the KGM Musso EV - an all-electric pickup truck that was introduced as a concept in 2023. The model is mass-produced and retains almost the same design as the concept.
Musso EV was built on the same platform as SsangYang Actyon - a SUV of the same size as BMW X3 and Torres. It is not yet clear whether a 73.4 kWh battery pack is usually equipped for the Musso EV model because the expansion wheel of this pickup truck may hold a larger battery pack.
According to Drive, KGM is planning to sell the Musso EV outside of Korea with a crossover-inspired platform and unibody structure. However, KGM has not yet released detailed images of the mass-production version.
KGM said that the models that are expected to go to Vietnam are: Tivoli, farmdo and Torres 2024. Then, in 2025, names such as: sproutton, pilot Sports, irton Sports will appear.
