In an effort to continuously expand the range of electric vehicles, Kia is focusing resources on developing EV2 - a small urban electric SUV. This is the next step of the Korean car company after introducing a variety of electric cars such as EV9, EV3 SUVs and EV4 and EV6 sedan lines, affirming its ambition to conquer the global electric car market.

As the name implies, Kia EV2 will be positioned right under the "predecessor" EV3. While EV3 is in the B -class SUV segment, EV2 is expected to be more compact in size, with the purpose of the low -cost segment. At the same time, EV2 will compete with formidable rivals such as Renault 4, Citroen E-C3 and Fiat Grande Panda in the European market. The expected starting price for EV2 in this area is about 30,000 euros (equivalent to about 862 million).
To achieve this attractive price while still ensuring profits, Kia will equip the EV2 with a 400 volt voltage architecture. This solution is considered less complicated and cost-effective than the 800 volt system on higher-end electric vehicles such as the EV6 and EV9.
The EV2 will use a shortened version of the famous E-GMP architecture, accompanied by a single-wheel drive electric motor. In line with urban vehicle orientation, the EV2's battery pack will have compact capacity, providing an estimated operating range of about 320 km per full charge. It can be said that this is a figure that meets the daily travel needs in the city well.
Although detailed technical specifications have not been released, the "big guys" in the Korean industry have revealed the original design lines of the EV2 through a concept car introduced at an event in Spain in February 2025. Accordingly, the Kia EV2 will officially be available in the European market from 2026.
The South Korean automaker's electrification ambitions will not stop at EV2. Kia's leaders have confirmed that they are considering the possibility of developing a smaller electric vehicle, called the EV1. This model is expected to become a spiritual successor to the familiar Kia Morning line and compete directly with potential competitors such as the Volkswagen ID.1 in the future, completing the electric vehicle product range for all Kia needs.
